Last 'godfather of the Sicilian mafia' dies
A notorious mafia boss, often described as the last godfather of the Sicilian "cosa nostra", Matteo Messina Denaro, has died.
After three decades on the run, Denaro died in custody at the age of 62. Italy's most-wanted man had been receiving treatment for cancer, but he was only arrested back in January at a clinic in Sicily. He'd been convicted in absentia for a series of murders and was serving a life sentence.
Rossella Merlino is an expert on organised crime at the University of Messina in Sicily and she told Newshour's James Menendez more about the organised crime don.
