‘I had to learn to read and write again’

Graham Rodgers had a stroke after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Speaking to 5 Live’s Tony Livesey, he said: "They put me in a coma for a month.

"I died three times and I spent four months in hospital."

While in hospital a nurse called Jo worked 12 hour shifts to help care for him.

After Graham recovered, Jo said: "Talking to him, I realised the impact me playing his music during
my shifts with Graham had on his recovery."

Graham shortlisted Jo for the Patient’s Choice Award, which is organised by the Royal College of Nursing.

Jo has worked for the NHS for more than 20 years.
