Freediver: 'I just had one point of consciousness left'
Freediving is a sport where participants dive underwater, guided by a rope down to depths of up to 700ft.
It relies on the individual holding their breath alone until they resurface.
Blackouts and lung damage are some of the dangers yet the sport continues to draw in thrill-seekers, such as Belgian freediver Kristof Coenen who worked as a safety diver and instructor on 'The Deepest Breath' documentary.
He spoke to Naga Munchetty about how it feels to dive below the water with no safety apparatus.
He said: "At aroud 30 metres, your lungs are the size of your fist so that means that the air is so compressed that you're now just free falling so you can just close your eyes and go for a long, deep nap."
