Gidon Lev, who survived four years in a concentration camp, has said he hasn't seen inhumanity like the current violence in the region since the Second World War.

The 88-year-old lives just outside Tel Aviv, and has found fame on TikTok posting videos about Jewish culture and attempting to spread positivity.

Israel has massed hundred of thousands of soldiers near Gaza ahead of an expected ground offensive against Hamas – who kidnapped at least 150 people during deadly attacks on Israel that killed some 1,300 people. More than 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched retaliatory air strikes, which continue.

Gidon, who has 15 grandchildren, said: "I want them to live in peace with the Palestinians and with anybody who wants to come here and be here with us.

"We all want to enjoy life - we have only one life to live", he added.
