Laura Linney on Hollywood strike: 'Absurd that you don't want to invest in your future'

The Truman Show star talks about her role in the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Laura Linney has said the Hollywood actors strikes are crucial to ensure the acting industry is not threatened in the future by new technology.

Members of SAG-AFTRA, which represents film, TV and radio actors in the US, has been on strike since July as part of a dispute over compensation and the use of artificial intelligence.

Negotiations between major Hollywood studios and actors have so far failed to reach an agreement, meaning production on many shows and movies has remained on pause.

Speaking to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live's Nihal Arthanayake, Laura Linney, who is a member of SAG-AFTRA, said: "Our whole world is about to pivot in a direction that we can't even quite comprehend.

"I suspect that AI is far more advanced than anyone is letting on."

The three-time Academy Award nominee added that she was hopeful a deal could be reached, but conceded the most recent breakdown in talks was "disappointing".
