Cambridge is 'wild west' for shoplifting
A Cambridge shopkeeper, Neil Mackay, has started a petition for police to attend every shoplifting incident reported.
Police figures show shoplifting in Cambridgeshire's gone up by almost 50 percent in a year.
Cambridgeshire Police say they “attend incidents of shoplifting wherever possible. However, this depends on factors such as whether the crime is in progress and the risk posed by other ongoing incidents at the time of reporting. We’re working with retailers concerning shoplifting and seeking prosecutions where possible and we take all reports of crime seriously.”
