Enlightened light trail celebrates Diwali

This weekend sees the main day of celebration for Diwali - the major festival celebrating the triumph of light over darkness and the start of new beginnings for millions of people of the Hindu, Sikh and Jain faiths.

The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word Deepavali, which means 'rows of lighted lamps'.

There are events all over Leicester to mark the festival of light - and that includes Leicester's Abbey Park where there'll be a mile long light display called 'Enlightened'.

It's taken a team of 20 people 2 weeks to install 15 kilometers of cable and the 100 thousand LED lights which organisers say will make the 'Enlightened' event truly magical. The display is also to be extended into Christmas.

Ady Dayman has been for a sneak peek behind the scenes to find out what you can expect to see.
