‘I had my finger in the hole in his heart’
Dr David Kirby treats many stab victims taken to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. Dr Kirby, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, was moved to find ways to reduce the level of knife after seeing its consequences in A&E. He now visits schools to talk to teenagers, with support from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office and VERU, the Bedfordshire Violence and Exploitation Reduction Unit.
