Hundreds of pharmaceutical workers in Kent have been told their jobs are at risk.

Pfizer, which is based at the Discovery Park in Sandwich, has announced plans to cut 500 of the 940 staff it employs.

The company said it was still committed to keeping a scientific presence at the site and were consulting with those staff affected.

North Thanet MP and currently Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Roger Gale, spoke of his astonishment at the news with Anna Cookson.
