Two men have been taken to hospital after a double shooting in Leicester.

Police received reports the men were shot as they walked along Evington Road at about 23:20 GMT on Wednesday.

The road remains closed this afternoon between Kingston Road and Linton Street while investigation work takes place.

The police are asking the public to avoid the area. Det Insp Hazel Sandall said: "Our investigation to ascertain the full circumstance surrounding the incident is still in its early stages.

A bystander who saw the aftermath of the shooting told us what he saw.
