Thai hostage released by Hamas: 'I got through this by thinking of the faces of my children, my wife,'

Thai farmworker on how he was abducted with three young Israeli men who were mistakenly shot dead by the Israeli Defense Force.

Not much is known about the experience of the three young Israeli men who were mistakenly shot dead by the Israeli Defense Force last week. But The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ now knows they were held together in two different tunnels for a month and a half with a Thai farmworker, who was abducted with them from the Kfar Aza kibbutz.

Our South East Asia correspondent Jonathan Head has been to meet farmworker Wichian Temthong, who was one of 23 Thai hostages released last month. He doesn't speak English, Hebrew or Arabic and so wasn't able to communicate with the three Israelis, but he has been able to give a picture of what their captivity was like.

He describes what happened when Hamas militants broke into his dormitory: "I crouched down [...] and shouted 'Thailand, Thailand, Thailand,' But they kept beating me."

"I was hungry all the time, because we got only one meal a day. I had to sip the water." says Temthong.

"My foreign friends and I always tried to support each other. Every day we would shake hands and do fist bumps. They would cheer me up by hugging me and patting my shoulder."
