Colorado kicks Trump out of its US presidential race
Trump's campaign vows to appeal Colorado ruling barring him from its US presidential poll.
Colorado's Supreme Court has barred Donald Trump from running in the state's presidential primary election.
The court ruled 4-3 that Donald Trump was not an eligible candidate because he had engaged in an insurrection over the US Capitol riot nearly three years ago. His campaign vowed to appeal to the US Supreme Court.
Mr Trump can still run for US President in next year's election, but it could make things more difficult for him.
Shortly after the ruling, the ex-president - who has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to the Capitol Hill riots - was very critical of the decision as he addressed a political rally in the state of Iowa.
So could all this have wider implications for Donald Trump as he attempts to run for the presidency next year?
Newsday heard from Meg Kinnard who is the National Politics Reporter for the Associated Press in the US.
"These legal challenges have been popping up. This ruling is only in one state, in Colorado. Different legal scholars are trying to figure out what effect if any this will have in other states where similar challenges are moving through the system."
