鈥榃e have a doula and a midwife for birth, we should have a death doula鈥�

Dame Esther Rantzen, who has stage four lung cancer, joined Dignitas 鈥� the assisted dying clinic in Switzerland.

She is currently receiving a 鈥渕iracle鈥� treatment but is considering assisted dying if her condition gets worse.

Dame Esther鈥檚 daughter, Rebecca Wilcox, told 5 Live鈥檚 Naga Munchetty that 鈥渨e鈥檙e giving women autonomy on how to give birth, I think the same should be done for death鈥�.

Rebecca added: 鈥淚 have the silence surrounding death.鈥�

鈥淲e should respect death and respect people鈥檚 choices around it.鈥�
