On this day: 27th Jan 1969 - Students seize control of LSE
On the 27th of January 1969, students protesting against the closure of the London School of Economics seized control of university buildings. The premises had closed days earlier after students went on the rampage attacking newly installed steel security gates with crowbars, pickaxes and sledgehammers.
