Elvis makes comeback with AI show
Grand champion Elvis tribute artist JD King says “AI cannot replace the human contact" of a live show.
The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll Elvis Presley is set to conquer a new stage – artificial intelligence (AI).
A holographic AI version of Elvis Presley will regale audiences in London, Las Vegas, Berlin and Tokyo in a show called Elvis Evolution.
The stage show, which is created from thousands of personal photos and home-video footage, is from Layered Reality, a British company specialising in immersive experiences.
It follows the success of Abba Voyage, a virtual concert with avatars of the Swedish pop band.
JD King is an Elvis impersonator and the reigning Grand Champion Elvis Tribute Artist. He does not consider AI Elvis a threat to his industry. He told Newsday: “I’m tremendously excited… I’m absolutely sure they will exist together because certainly at this point in technological history, AI cannot replace the human contact nature of someone actually being in the room with you… you can’t do that with an algorithm.â€
