Hackney Wick locals describe 'frightening' flooding
On Thursday night a canal burst its banks in Hackney Wick and flooded about 10 acres of land, according to the LFB. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to Dace Road and Wick Lane on Thursday night.
A spokesperson said firefighters carried out welfare checks on about 100 people who were able to stay in their homes, while 50 were taken to safety.
