Restaurant owner and chef Gary Usher says the British hospitality industry is in need of support, as independent businesses face rising costs.

Speaking to 5 Live Drive about the recent closure of Greens, TV chef Simon Rimmer's restaurant, Gary reminded listeners to think of businesses without such a high profile, who might also be at risk of closing. "It's millions and millions of jobs" he said.

He said he feared for the future of his own restaurants, citing rising interest on debt incurred during Covid alongside high food and energy bills.
