
Former soldier: ‘I had no sense of purpose when I first left’
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has affected the lives of many veterans.
It is estimated that rate of PTSD among UK veterans of all conflicts is 7.4%, according to a report published in the British Journal of Psychiatry.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Chris Warburton, former soldier Amber said: “As soon as I was discharged and in civilian street, I personally isolated for the first few years.â€
“Civilian street was very daunting to me, I had no sense of purpose when I first left.
“We can be misunderstood veterans and ex-military.â€
