As schools start this week and work life resumes - 12 weeks of roadworks are getting underway in Leicester.

Frog Island, the A50, is closed to traffic inbound between Abbey Gate and Sanvey Gate for the next 12 weeks as part of Leicester City Council's ongoing work around the Fiveways Junction.

Martin Fletcher is Leicester City Council's Director of Highways. He told Ady Dayman why they had chosen to start the works now.
