Shaun Ryder on his ADHD diagnosis aged 50: 'A big realisation'

Black Grape frontman, Shaun Ryder, told 5 Live how he reacted to his ADHD diagnosis aged 50.

"It was just a big sort of realisation, that's why I'm like that, that's why I can't remember anything", Shaun said.

He said he finally had a name for why he was often so distracted at school.

"I'm looking at birds, I mean birds in the sky and picking things on the floor and you know, I'm away with the fairies", he said.

But Shaun said he hadn't wanted to stay on the medication.

"I've had a go at it. I didn't want to spend the next decade of my life on methamphetamines. Even though as soon as I tried the medication, the brain clicks into gear.

"I've done alright for 50-odd", he finished.
