The family of 82-year-old Margaret surprised her by reuniting her with an electric scooter made by her father from scrap in the 1940s.

Charlie Ridley worked in the motor industry, but he loved inventing vehicles in his own time too. He used scrap to build a 30-mph electric scooter at his home in Cheylesmore.

It was donated to the Transport Museum in 1979, and the family has not seen the vehicle since.
