Great Neighbour honoured by Make a Difference Award
Angela Tuck won the Great Neighbour Award in ѿý Radio Solent's Make a Difference Awards in 2023.
She and her husband, Andy, took in a Ukrainian family when the war broke out in 2022.
Angela noticed that some of the children were attending English schools when they had not learnt to read or write in Ukrainian yet.
As a result, she set up a Ukrainian school group, staffed by volunteers, to help families maintain their cultural identity.
She said: "Those children are really enjoying learning... You can tell it's a community they really feel comfortable with."
Nominations are now open for ѿý Radio Solent's 2024 Make a Difference Awards, and will close on Sunday 10th March 2024 at 11:00pm.
The Awards are a chance to say “Thank You” and show recognition and appreciation for people who love to make life better for others. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in September.
