This year is the 200th birthday of the man who created the 鈥楶limsoll Line鈥�.

He was born in Redcliffe in 1824 and saved the lives of many seafarers by legislating for better safety measures on ships.

This included the line which showed when a ship was over loaded and likely to sink.
