Snetterton sanctuary rescues smuggled horses
A Norfolk animal rescue centre has taken in 26 horses and ponies after they were found being smuggled out of the UK.
Many of the horses which arrived at the World Horse Welfare site in Snetterton were found to be in bad health, after being crammed into a transporter which was stopped at Dover
It is thought some or all of the animals may have been on the way to slaughter abroad.
The centre’s Zoe Williamson says they need a lot of rehabilitation.
