Deforestation in Brazil
An investigation by the environmental campaign group "Global Witness" has found that deforestation in Brazil's Cerrado region is dramatically increasing.
The savanna region isn't as well known as its wetter neighbour, the Amazon rainforest, but it covers an area the size of Western Europe and stores a huge amount of carbon - as well as having other environmental significance.
Veronica Oakeshott from Global Witness spoke to Newshour's Rebecca Kesby.
