Children's Commissioner: I will take voices of SEND young people to Prime Minister
Laith is a 20-year-old student living with cerebral palsy. He interviewed Rachel De Souza, the Children’s Commissioner for England, on funding for special needs and disabilities.
Laith asked the Commissioner what she would do about the government's decision to demote the Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work to an under-secretary role, which he said felt like "a kick in the teeth".
De Souza told Laith she intends to take voices like his to Parliament. "If you ask me truthfully what can change a Prime Minister's actions, it is absolutely meeting and and listening to the voices of young people with SEND," she said.
5 Live Drive visited the National Star College in Cheltenham, which Laith attends, to learn more about the experiences of children with SEND and their families.
