Schoolboy who lost dad to suicide on the power of talking
Alfie has opened a support group in Liverpool for others affected by suicide following his dad's death - when Alfie was just eight.
Alfie who created a support group for other young people who have been affected by suicide following his dad's death, has told 5 Live why talking is such an important part of grieving.
'Alfie's Squad' - based in Liverpool - is a safe space for those bereaved by suicide to make friends, explore new activities and find solace in the company of peers who share similar experiences.
"I thought I was the only one who had gone through something like this", Alfie said, who was only eight at the time.
He said he feels a sense of responsibility for younger people who come to his group.
"They've started to open up and and they've started to realise that they aren't and that there's many people like them.
"A lot of them wonder if they're ever going to get to the stage like I am but it's just part of grieving and it will definitely happen", he finished.
