Rebecca Hilsenrath on WASPI report: 'A very important injustice'

The Chief Executive of the body who wrote the report into whether the WASPI women should be compensated has told 5 Live of how crucial a day today is.

The report, which Rebecca Hilsenrath oversaw, has called on the government to compensate those women by up to £3,000.

From 1948 until 2010, the state pension age was 60 for women and 65 for men. A law passed in 1995 said the women's pension age would increase to 65 between 2010 and 2020

"We know it has given them feelings of anxiety and frustration", she said of the women affected.

"Because of financial decisions that they've had to make, they can't afford to buy the things that they want to buy in terms of food and clothing".
