Talking to children about cancer: 'How do I continue to be mum?'
Kerry Craig is the centre head of Maggie's in Glasgow, a charity who aim to provide support for people affected by cancer.
She spoke to 5 Live Breakfast about the common feelings parents experience upon being diagnosed with cancer, and how to talk to children about the disease.
Every child is different, said Kerry, and ultimately there is no right or wrong approach. This especially applies to different ages. "Younger children might be concerned about cancer being something you can catch" Kerry said, whereas for older children it might be about "explaining what treatment is and the potential side effects".
Kerry said she imagines the Princess of Wales, who has recently begun cancer treatment, will be looking after her emotional wellbeing by having her family around her.
