What was the first ever London Marathon like?
On Sunday 21st April nearly 60,000 people will be pounding the streets of London for the annual London Marathon.
But it’s safe to say things looked a little different back on the 29th of March 1981, when the very first London Marathon took place.
Just 6000 people took part then. We’ve had a dig into the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Archive to bring you the radio report from that day, when the join winners cross the line hand in hand.
