Nisha Katona: ‘We take fundamental things for granted’
Author and restaurateur Nisha Katona spent 20 years working as a child protection lawyer before opening the first of her restaurants in Liverpool 10 years ago.
Since then, a further 20 branches have been established. She also started her own charity which is helping improve education for girls in an Indian city.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Nihal Arthanayake, she said: “I’m lucky enough to be here running a business and creating jobs.”
Nisha highlighted that “building a charity alongside a business is such a great thing”.
She said that she sends members of her own team to India every year and they came back with “the scales falling from their eyes”.
“If I can change the way that my own workers see life and take thing for granted, then there’s no bigger motivation to build a business than that.”
