'I fought - and that's what parents have to do'
Leicester singer Sam Bailey has told us of her struggle to get her autistic son into a special school.
She home educated 14 year old Tommy whilst she went through the process of getting a place for him at a school she said was more suitable for his needs.
Sam told Jo Bostock that parents need more help to navigate the school system, saying the paperwork alone is overwhelming.
Leicestershire County Council has told us: "Autism Outreach Team works closely with county schools to provide specialist information and advice, including Autism Trust training to help develop their understanding and schools can also access regular professional discussions with specialist teachers to support pupils with communication and interaction needs."
