Leicester man 'violated' by rodent infestation

A man from Leicester says he's desperate for more help from Leicester City Council to get rid of a vermin problem.

John Waterworth from the Blackmore Drive estate in Beaumont Leys says he's caught 12 rats or mice in the past 3 months inside his flat.

It's a council flat, but John says the council have been slow to deal with the problem. He's paid for his own pest control but says he can't face sleeping in the flat anymore.

ѿý Leicester's Helen McCarthy has been to investigate.

A Leicester City Council spokesperson said: “The tenant reported these concerns last month. Investigations have been carried out and so far, these have found mice in the block but no evidence of rats. We have paid for treatment to be carried out and this is ongoing. Follow up visits will be taking place to ensure that this has been effective.”
