Woman’s life saved by ‘mother of all surgeries’
Woman who had eight organs removed plans to run in Brighton 10k event.
Faye Louise from Sussex has been speaking to 5 Live Breakfast’s Rachel Burden about how her life was saved by undergoing what is known as ‘the mother of all surgeries’.
She underwent the removal of eight organs after she was diagnosed with cancer.
Faye is now cancer free and re-building her life. She is also launching Cancer Research UK’s ‘Race for Life’ season in Sussex and will be taking part in the Brighton 10k event.
“I just thought my life is never going to be the same again. I’m never going to be able to do these things and now six months on, here I am.”
Faye sympathised with the Princess of Wales and said when it was revealed that she had cancer, she cried on her sofa as she knows what it feels like to get that diagnosis.
“Hearing: ‘You’ve got cancer,” you can’t explain how it feels until you hear those words yourself”.
King Charles has made his return to public engagements after his cancer diagnosis earlier this year. The King and Queen Camilla visited a hospital cancer centre and met patients and staff.
