An Indian woman has won a nature prize for her work in saving a species of stork, which was at risk of being wiped out.

The Hargila stork is a large and pretty ugly bird by conventional standards.

It's certainly got strong features - a huge, sharp beak and a scraggy featherless neck - a bit like a vulture.

It feeds on carrion and has a reputation for being a bit grubby.

Purnima Devi Barman has just been awarded the Whitley Fund for Nature's Gold Award.

She's been telling Newshour why she fell in love with the stork and wanted to save it...
