'No mow' campaign aims to create wildlife havens

Gardeners are being encouraged to let their lawns become little havens for wildlife by letting grass grow longer in May.

'No May May', a project launched by the charity Plantlife in 2019, was set up to encourage people and organisations to leave gardens and green spaces to grow wild for the month of May.

The group says that approximately 97% of flower-rich meadows have been lost since the 1930’s, and lost with them are vital food sources needed by pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Chariman of Cossington Open Gardens Steve Budding told us the importance of allowing nature to flourish, and Senior Ecological Advisor at 'Plantlife' Sarah Shuttleworth told Kelly Hinch how even those of us with the smallest gardens should take part.
