'Amazing' support for scout after equipment theft

A Leicestershire scout leader whose kit was stolen on the way back from expedition has thanked well-wishers for raising the money replace it.

Fifteen year old Connor Hurst from Market Harborough had just returned from a trip with the 1st Bowden scout group when his bags were swiped from the street. His mother Karen said he had lost about £1,000 of gear which he had saved up to buy. CCTV appears to show a man with a crutch pick up the bags and walk off.

Connor set up a fund raising page with extra cash destined for scout hut improvements. He told Kelly Hinch that he was absolutely devastated when the bags were taken.

Leicestershire Police said it was investigating the theft, which happened in Rectory Lane at about 14:30 BST on Sunday 28 May, after Connor and the 1st Bowdens scouts had returned from an expedition in Derbyshire.
