Henley's Dame who has donated millions to charity
Dame Stephanie "Steve " Shirley is a philanthropist from Henley who has recently won a Pride of Britain award.
She recalls how she fled her home in Germany and came to the UK as a child refugee in 1939.
A ground-breaking entrepreneur, she went on to start an all-female software firm in the 1960s and then used the money she earned to fund her philanthropy.
She tells ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Berkshire’s Sarah Walker about the satisfaction she receives from her donations which include funding Priors Court School in Thatcham.
