James Marriott is a massive Eurovision fan and has been speaking to 5 Live Breakfast about this week鈥檚 semi-finals.

The theme this year is "united by music" and it's the seventh time Sweden has staged the contest, after Loreen won last year.

James said being at the arena was 鈥渇antastic鈥� and that Sweden really know what they鈥檙e doing.

鈥淭hey put on a brilliant show. The arena is absolutely buzzing.鈥�

He said a lot of 鈥淓urovision nonsense鈥� was going on at the semi-finals and that a lot of the songs this year are 鈥渂onkers鈥�.

鈥淚 think Finland is setting the bar in terms of weirdness. So if you didn鈥檛 see that, there鈥檚 something to really look forward to.鈥�

Some people texting 5 Live say they think this year鈥檚 UK entry is slightly risky.

鈥淚t is a little bit,鈥� James said. 鈥淚n terms of the staging, it鈥檚 perhaps a little bit bolder than the UK has done before.鈥�

鈥淭he song probably didn鈥檛 live up to the hype when Olly Alexander was announced as the entrant. It鈥檚 a little bit disappointing and doesn鈥檛 go anywhere.鈥�

James says 鈥淐roatia is the one to beat. Great song, really great performance. It sends the crowd absolutely wild. And Eurovision hasn鈥檛 been in Croatia since 1990 so I think a few people will lean towards giving Croatia their vote.鈥�
