Kairos by Jenny Erpenbeck trans by Michael Hofmann is one of the nominees for the 2024 International Booker Prize, to be awarded on May 21st. Set just before the fall of the Berlin Wall, a love affair between a teenage girl and a middle aged man slowly dies as the East German regime also comes it its end.
