Children closing the chapter on reading books
It's called the What Kids Are Reading Report... and it's the first time, outside of the first year of the Covid pandemic, that the number of books read has decreased since it started in 2008.
The figures suggest that the issue is particularly acute in secondary schools, with many teenage students reading at the same level as primary pupils.
