'Naloxone has saved my life five or six times'
It's a terrible fact but the North East has the highest rate of drug related deaths in the UK.
Now a life saving anti-overdose drug that can save a life is being made available for people to use at home without a prescription.
Health secretary Victoria Atkins says the aim is to reduce annual drug-related deaths by 1,000 by 2025.
James Fowler from County Durham had an opioid addiction - and more than once had his life saved by Naloxone. He shared his story with our reporter Olivia Otigbah.
