School resists plans for fast food on doorstep
Stephen Taylor, Governor of Bishops Stortford High School, is calling for a re-think. The Hertfordshire School is due to move into a new development where a McDonalds is planned for “outside the gates” of their new premises. The developer, Countryside, has launched a consultation over the plans. It says: “The St James’ Park neighbourhood provides important new homes for the local community, as well as a mixed-use local centre which will provide shops, restaurant, a gym, a nursery and community facilities. The proposed McDonald’s is one part of these proposals.” McDonalds was approached for comment. Photo: Getty Images.
