A poo emoji covered ice cream van arrived in Margate offering free sewage themed sundaes to passers by to promote cleaner seas.

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: 鈥淲e understand people鈥檚 concerns about storm overflows. At Southern Water, we agree that this historic network of pressure release valves 鈥� which only operate to protect communities from flooding 鈥� are not acceptable moving forwards. This is why we have a 拢1.5bn plan to cut their use as quickly as possible, by rolling out innovative nature-based and engineering solutions across our region.鈥�

We have approached Thanet District Council for comment but we have not yet heard back.
