Rare butterfly is flourishing in Essex
Record numbers of a butterfly once close to extinction have been recorded at the Pound Wood Nature Reserve in south Essex. The Heath Fritillary butterfly is one of the rarest in Britain and lives in a small number of sites in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Kent, but can also be found in Essex.
Ruth Angrave from the Essex Wildlife Trust has been explaining the importance of this butterfly species.
