1934: Birkenhead Tunnel through time
On this day 90 years ago, King George V was in Merseyside for a historic occasion: the official opening of the Queensway Tunnel, more commonly known as the Birkenhead Tunnel.
This engineering marvel, which connects Liverpool and Birkenhead under the River Mersey, was a significant infrastructure project of the time.
