King’s Lynn Shakespeare stage discovery
Why the medieval stage in St George’s Guildhall is thought to have been used by the Bard.
St George’s Guildhall in Kings Lynn is the oldest working theatre in the UK, dating back to 1445.
Now, archaeologists have discovered a medieval stage thought to have been used by William Shakespeare.
During recent renovations, timber floorboards were found under the existing auditorium, which were dated back to the 15th Century.
