Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne: 'We did it for mums'

It’s been a huge journey back to the top of sport for the Hereford-born rower. She achieved an Olympic Bronze in Tokyo and then took time out to have her son Freddie.

It’s been a huge journey back to the top of sport for the Hereford-born rower, who achieved an Olympic Bronze medal in the double sculls with partner Becky Wilde. Mathilda took a break from rowing, and gave birth to her son Freddie after the Tokyo games in 2021. She’s since made her way back to the podium for Paris 2024!
