Tatjana Smith: Medals, retirement and becoming South Africa’s most decorated Olympian
South Africa’s most decorated Olympian Tatjana Smith is “ready to embrace” what’s next after announcing her retirement from swimming.
Smith won gold in the 100m breaststroke and silver in the 200m breaststroke events in Paris to add to the gold and silver at Tokyo 2020.
Her four Olympic medals make Smith the most decorated South African Olympian in history, matching fellow swimmer Chad le Clos‘ tally of four, but with two golds compared to le Clos’ one.
Smith reflects on her success in Paris with Sportsworld’s Lee James, and also what’s next after announcing her retirement.
