Carlisle's big bird has landed
A Blackburn Beverley heavy transport aircraft is being restored at Solway Aviation Museum. This rare aircraft is one of only 47 constructed and it was named after the town in East Yorkshire. In period it was regarded as ungainly, as it was based on the design of a large WWII glider, but it gained respect in service. Mark McAlindon went to have a look at this extraordinary aircraft.
